Hall, Haywood Top Talents At Fair

Posted

The Bays sisters' rendition of "God Bless America" was inspiring enough to win the vocal group division in the senior talent show Wednesday at the Kosciusko County 4-H and Community Fair.

Kassie, Amanda, Rochelle and Chassidy Bays of Warsaw will be joined by Thomas Hall, Silver Lake; Elissa Howard, Warsaw; Erin Kantz, Milford; and Courtney Woodward, Hillary Umbaugh and April Kuhn, all of Winona Lake, as division winners in the talent competition. They are set to appear at the Indiana State Fair in August.

Hall entered in two divisions: the instrumental solo, where he played "How Great Thou Art" on piano, and the male solo, where he sang "It is Well with My Soul." He won both divisions and had to choose which category he would compete in at the state level. His choice of male solo sent second place winner in the instrumental solo, Erin Kantz, to the top of that division.

Hall also was selected the overall winner.

Elissa Haywood's rendition of "Redeemer" in the female solo division led to her being selected the second overall winner.

Courtney Woodward's dance solo turned into a novelty act because of lip syncing during the number.

Hillary Umbaugh and April Kuhn also performed a jazz act.

Placing third overall were Paul Crace, Claypool, and Jack BoCook, Warsaw.
