The Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County, upon recommendation of the Family Selection committee, recently approved Diane Jones and her son as the next partner family.
Jones and her son will become the owners of the first Women Build home in Kosciusko County.
At present, the funding for the Women Build project is more than 50 percent with $37,000 raised toward the total goal of $70,400.
Habitat is seeking partners to help finish the funding as the repayment of Habitat mortgages by partner families provides the funds to build more homes.
Habitat has three main criteria that applicants must meet to become a partner family: there must be a need; there must be an ability to repay; and the family must be willing to partner with Habitat by completing sweat equity hours and other requirements.
The Jones family meets all three criteria.
Over the past four months, Jones has lost both her mother and father and is currently living at her parents’ apartment with an uncertainty of how long she will be allowed to remain as she had moved in to help provide care for them.
Jones has worked for the past three years at Helvey & Associates.
The Women Build committee is hosting Happy Appé Hour, a wine tasting, appetizer competition and silent auction Oct. 25 at Mad Anthony Lake City Tap House in Warsaw beginning at 5 p.m.
