Staff Report-
Habitat for Humanity of Kosciusko County has deployed bright green sheds in Warsaw, North Webster and Syracuse.
The goal is to create a greater awareness of the organization’s can collection campaign.
The sheds provide a way for people to donate their recyclable aluminum cans 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The funds generated from this campaign support Habitat’s building projects that provide safe and affordable housing for families in need, according to Christon Clark, Habitat executive director.
Currently, bright green sheds can be found at Warsaw locations: Lowe’s, 2495 Jalynn St.; White’s Flooring, 2249 N. Detroit St.; AutoZone, 1801 E. Center St.; and Warsaw Wesleyan Church, 2402 Old 30.
Other locations are at: Steffen Realty, 909 N. Huntington St., Syracuse; and North Webster Community Center, 301 N. Main St., North Webster.
Habitat plans to add more locations to this list.
“Habitat is grateful to individuals and businesses who have assisted and continue to assist with the fundraising effort,” Clark said.
Those who contributed also include students at Fairfield and West Noble high schools who built three sheds, participants in the Women Build challenge who built four sheds and the youth group at Warsaw Wesleyan who built a shed.
In addition, DePuy is currently running a 30-day can collection program for its employees.
To date, Habitat Kosciusko has collected 350 pounds of aluminum (approximately 14,000 cans).
