Local organizations met with the Warsaw Parks Department Tuesday in efforts to etch out an agreement regarding space used in the Pete Thorn Center.
With the announced departure of the Baker Youth Club, the Boys and Girls Club of Kosciusko County and the Kosciusko County Council on Aging and Aged met to seek approval of space designations within the facility.
Both organizations reported meeting March 16 and agreed on a cooperated use of office and storage space when it becomes available.
The parks board approved a contract that was formally agreed to by both organizations.
"It's a workable agreement, and I'm glad everyone was able to work things out," parks board member John Sadler said.
The board will update the assigned spaces in future lease agreements of the Pete Thorn Center, and the Boys and Girls Club of Kosciusko anticipate using the building more with Baker's departure.
Another matter discussed during the meeting was the near completion of the Glover Pavilion in Central Park.
Workers currently are fixing irrigation lines and wires, and hope to have an operational light display in the next three weeks.
A May 21 concert is scheduled to be the first performance in the new structure, with Jane Glover-McInnis performing.
Funding and design plans for the project were donated last year by Richard Glover, a county resident for many years. The new pavilion is estimated to be worth $185,000.
"We hope that more projects like this happen happen in the future," Parks Department Head Jon Garber said.
The board officially accepted the pavilion from the Glovers and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation Tuesday.
Also accepted by the board was a $2,000 donation from the PACE International Union to be put towards the yearly Christmas light display in Central Park.
Present board members were Sadler, Garber, Cathy Folk, Steve Haines and Toby Sumpter. President Bill Baldwin was absent.
