A barbecue led to a local home being heavily damaged by fire Sunday afternoon. Warsaw firefighters were called just after 4 p.m. to a single-story home at 405 Aspen Ct., after flames from a patio charcoal grill spread to the home. The blaze was contained within nine minutes, but flames and smoke destroyed the garage, a bedroom and a portion of the roof of the home. The occupants of the home escaped unharmed, but a firefighter was treated at Kosciusko County Hospital for exhaustion. No damage estimate was made available this morning.
