A “Great Turnaround” event was Thursday night at First Christian Church in Warsaw to raise funds for Heartline Pregnancy Center. The Great Turnaround is a national event dedicated to serving pregnancy centers around the country. Dr. Bruce Wilkinson, author of The Prayer of Jabez, is president of Bruce Wilkinson Ministries, which organizes the national events. Wilkinson’s organization is helping to raise $100 million collectively for pregnancy centers in the United States. During Thursday night’s event the 300 attendees in Warsaw raised $81,515 for Heartline Pregnancy Center. Dave Bos, national speaker from Bruce Wilkinson Ministries, was the featured speaker, Thursday night. In 2009, Bos became executive director of Alternatives, a pregnancy care center in Kalamazoo, Mich. Bos showed a slide show presentation that said 4,000 babies are aborted every year. Bos said pregnancy centers such as Heartline are important in the fight against ending abortion. “We should not wait for Roe vs. Wade to be overturned, but what we can control is the amount of abortions that take place right here where you live,” Bos said. Angie Wood, Heartline Pregnancy Center executive director, said for 28 years local individuals, churches and organizations have allowed Heartline to continue to offer a place of hope and healing. Heartline provides pregnancy testing, prenatal and parent education and assistance with diapers, wipes and formula, and childcare and preschool services. Wood said the organization is always looking for volunteers. During the event, Pastor John Lowe, New Life Christian Church, prayed for Wood and the work she and her staff do for the pregnancy center.
