A family dispute turned into an arrest Wednesday afternoon in Warsaw.

According to the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, Elmer England allegedly shot at the tires of his son-in-law Trent Smith's vehicle after an argument Wednesday afternoon.

Smith reportedly went to England's residence Wednesday afternoon to pick up his child, who England was babysitting.

Since Smith just learned his wife reportedly wanted to get a divorce, England said he did not want Smith to take the child until the wife got there.

After a argument between the two men, Smith took the child and headed out of the house to his vehicle. England allegedly retrieved a .22 rifle from a back room and reportedly shot at Smith's rear tire, trying to keep Smith from leaving.

The shot missed, and Smith went to Mentone Elementary School to pick up the couple's other child. When Smith arrived at the school, an officer from the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was there and soon after Smith's wife arrived.

Smith and his wife had a discussion about the situation and worked out a plan for future child exchanges.

Officers arrived at England's house, and England allegedly admitted he shot at Smith's vehicle.

England was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail and booked for one count of criminal recklessness. After the prosecutor review the case, and additional charge of intimidation with force was added, and a 48-hour hold was enacted. England's bond was set at $2,000.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
