Omar Mora, the man wanted for the May 23, 2007, shooting deaths of Lisa Mora and Harpal Singh, is the target of a grand jury investigation. The Kosciusko Circuit Court called a grand jury on Wednesday to be impaneled Aug. 27. Omar is a target under Indiana Code 35-34-2-1. Omar, 37, is accused of shooting his wife and a gas station manager he believed was having an affair with his wife. On May 23, 2007, Omar drove his 2003 Chevy Silverado to the back of the Phillips 66 gas station at 2516 E. Center St., Warsaw. He walked in to speak with the gas station manager, Singh, who was 38 at the time. The two men went out the back door and Omar shot Singh seven times with a 9mm. Police found Singh with seven gunshot wounds to his head, neck and torso. Police say Omar then went to his home located at 1844 Vicky Lane in The Country subdivision off CR 175E near Warsaw. As police investigated Singh’s murder, Omar allegedly shot locks to gain entry to his home where he chased his wife, Lisa, down a hall, shooting at her. He killed her while their children and Lisa’s mother were in the home as Lisa begged him to spare her life. The Moras’ two sons were 7 and 2 at the time. Omar was featured on “America’s Most Wanted,” and his Chevy Silverado was located July 23, 2007, in the 2300 block of West Montana Street, a side street right off the Kennedy Expressway, in Chicago. Police believe Omar parked it there the night of May 23. A week after the murders, Lisa’s family opened a safe that belonged to Omar. They found two wallets, credit cards, his passport, his green card, a checkbook and an address book all inside. No money was found in the safe. Omar is believed to be either in Chicago or Mexico, and an arrest warrant was issued in Mexico three years after the murders. A $10,000 reward has been offered to information leading to the arrest of Omar. Omar is 5 feet, 7 inches and police believe he’s weighs about 170 pounds. He has dark hair and brown eyes and may have a beard or moustache. The notice to target of grand jury investigation informs Omar that he is the subject of a grand jury investigation; has the right to appear and testify before the grand jury; has the right to consult with an attorney and to be assisted by an attorney, if Omar cannot afford an attorney, the Kosciusko Circuit Court will appoint one upon request; and if Omar fails to appear in person or by an attorney, the grand jury will convene and hear evidence in his absence.
