WINONA LAKE - Grace Brass will present a free concert Saturday at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church.
Dr. Tim Sanborn, director of Grace Brass and a professor of Music at Grace College, calls the 7 p.m. performance an "unashamed fund-raising opportunity for the Community Christian School in Port Charlotte, Fla." The school was at "ground zero" when Hurricane Charley whipped through the community Aug. 13.
Grace Brass includes musicians Zach Evans, Luke Kelley, Casey Richey, Nancy Bustos, Bethany Vaughn, Katie Daniels and Sanborn.
"The concert will feature our 'Light your World' tour program, as well as some big band numbers and guest players from our community," Sanborn said.
The program includes a multimedia show featuring local missionaries and their work.
All the money raised Saturday will go to the school in Florida. If $5,000 is raised, it will be matched by an anonymous donation and distributed to Grace Brass and the music departments of Lakeland Christian Academy and Warsaw Christian School.
March 9 the group intends to visit Community Christian School and present a concert there.
