Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies have arrested a Goshen man for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old Warsaw girl.
Devon “Francis” Hanson, 20, Goshen, was arrested and preliminarily charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, a Class C felony. Hanson’s bond was set at $20,000 and he was in jail as of press time.
Warsaw Police Department Resource Officer Joe Hawn was alerted to the incident by the victim April 19. While at Edgewood Middle School, Hawn was approached by the victim who informed Hawn that she allegedly had consensual sexual intercourse April 14 with a man named Francis who was 19 or 20 years old.
Hawn went to speak with the woman who owned the residence where the incident allegedly occurred. She told Hawn that she had heard of a kid named Francis that had been at her residence and had sex with a young lady. She also informed Hawn that when her son found out about it, he hit Francis.
When Hawn spoke with the woman’s son, he told Hawn that the kid’s name was Devon Hanson. He told Hawn that Hanson was at the home and they were fixing bikes. At one point he went upstairs and found Hanson and the girl allegedly kissing and cuddling. He then allegedly told Hanson that the girl was 14 and that if he had sex with her he would go to jail.
He told Hawn that Hanson went in and out of the house frequently after that. Later he found out that Hanson allegedly had sex with the girl in the stairway landing.
The victim picked Hanson out of a six-person photo array as the man she had sex with.
