GOP, Democrat Political Headquarters To Open

Posted
Republican and Democrat headquarters will open in Warsaw this month.

The Kosciusko County Republican party will open its headquarters office beginning Sept. 22 at 109 E. Market St. The office will be open Monday through Friday beginning from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Aaron Rovenstine, Kosciusko County Republican Party chairman, said the Republican Party is excited to have a centralized office.

"Having an office headquarters is important because it sets up a distribution point for voters to get materials and questions answered for the election," Rovenstine said.

The election is Nov. 4.

Plans are to have political yard signs, bumper stickers, pins and pamphlets available for free to the public when the Republican headquarters office opens Sept. 22.

Rovenstine said political signs have been ordered representing Governor Mitch Daniels, 3rd District Congressman Mark Souder and Republican presidential candidate John McCain and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

People interested in volunteering at the Republican office can call Rovenstine at 574-858-9036 or Marsha McSherry, Kosciusko County Republican vice chair, at 574-371-7440.

The Kosciusko County Democrat party has many events scheduled at its party headquarters office at 118 E. Market St., Warsaw.

"We're excited to have an organizer from the Barack Obama campaign who has assisted us with local event planning," said Antony Garza, Kosciusko County Democrat Party chairman.

Jefferson-Jackson Dinner Invitation preparation will be today from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the office.

The 2008 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner is Oct. 4 at the Ramada Plaza Ballroom, 2519 E. Center St., Warsaw. A reception will be at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $25 per person by calling 574-269-4373.

Third District congressman candidate Michael Montagano and a representative from the Obama/Biden campaign will speak at the dinner.

A letter writing meeting will be Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. at the Democrat headquarters.

The party headquarters open house will be Sept. 20 from 1 to 5 p.m., and an Obama-Biden campaign phone bank will be Sept. 23 at 5:15 p.m.

Office hours for the Democrat headquarters will depend on volunteer availability. The public is invited to visit the office during those hours where free yard signs of various Democrat candidates are available. Bumper stickers, flyers and other candidate information also is available.
