PIERCETON – Diana Heckman knows how difficult it is to operate a small business. With an eye on profit margins, Heckman still wants to be able to give to area not-for-profit groups. With that in mind, Heckman, who owns Weckmuller Fine Chocolates, teamed up with Kerrie Walls, a Tupperware director, to host an event Oct. 20 that will help benefit Heartline Pregnancy Center. Weckmuller Fine Chocolates is at 118 N. First St., Pierceton. Weckmuller Fine Chocolates will give 10 percent of each sale that day to Heartline. Also, Walls will have many cash-and-carry items on hand for people to buy. They include bowls, kitchen items, toys and kids’ items. Ten percent of each sale Walls makes will go to Heartline and she will also donate 10 percent of her net profits from that night. Walls will be on hand from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 20. Weckmuller opens at 10:30 a.m. and will stay open until 8 p.m. Everyone that stops by will also get free coffee samples as well as samples of Weckmuller’s chocolate of the month. “(Heartline) is such a great organization and they really need our help,” said Heckman. “We try and help anyone who is in need of it. In tough times like these, with the economy how it is, we all need to help each other.”Walls said she was also tempted to put the Oct 20 event together because of what Heartline does. “Heartline needs help, and they do so much for a lot of women, many of them single women,” said Walls. ”And they are going through a tough time.” Along with proceeds from that day’s sales, Weckmuller is also accepting donations from those who can’t make the Oct. 20 event.
