Fulton County Sheriff's Office Investigates Nonspecific School Threat

FULTON COUNTY – Wednesday morning, the Fulton County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) regarding a general, nonspecific threat made against a school.
While no particular school or suspect was initially identified, the sheriff's office took immediate action to ensure the safety of students and staff in the community, according to a provided news release.
In response to the notification, the FCSO began working in close coordination with the FBI, Indiana State Police and surrounding law enforcement agencies. As a precaution, all area schools were informed of the potential threat, despite its lack of specific details.
After a coordinated and thorough investigation, law enforcement officials from the FBI, Indiana State Police, Fulton County Sheriff's Office and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office were able to locate, identify and interview the individual responsible for making t he threats.
At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. However, based on the evidence gathered so far, the threat does not appear to be credible.
Sheriff Travis Heishman issued the following statement: “I want to personally thank the investigators from our office, the FBI, Indiana State Police and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office for their swift and professional response. Their collaborative efforts allowed us to quickly identify the source of the threat and assess the situation. The safety of our schools and our community remains our highest priority, and we will continue to monitor this case closely.”
