A deep fat fryer apparently malfunctioned and overheated, resulting in a fire this morning at Burger King in Warsaw. Fire officials were called to the restaurant at 5:34 a.m. Flames were showing from the fryer and the store's extinguishing system was activated. Employees also used hand-held extinguisher to help put out the fire. Warsaw Fire Department Chief Matt Warren said the fire had nothing to do with the remodeling project under way at the restaurant and that it occurred as employees were preparing to open for the day. The restaurant was closed this morning for cleaning and, after a health department inspection, was expected to reopen late today or tomorrow. Damage is estimated at $1,000.
