Posted
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested a Fort Wayne woman after a Friday night pursuit.
Deputies were on routine patrol Friday at approximately 10:19 p.m. when they observed a white 1997 Mazda pickup truck traveling westbound on U.S. 30 that continued to cross the white fog line several times in an erratic manner.
The vehicle then turned northbound onto CR 700W, where it continued to deviate from its lane of travel, at which point officers initiated a traffic stop near CR 250N.
As officers approached the vehicle, they noted the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage as they were asking the driver for her license and registration. The driver, later identified as Rachel Lee Snider, 43, Fort Wayne, suddenly rolled up her window and accelerated northbound on CR 700W.
KCSD officers pursued the fleeing vehicle as it reached speeds of 90 mph until it failed to stop at the T-intersection of CRs 700W and 650N. Snider’s vehicle struck a wooden fence and several small trees until eventually becoming stuck in a ditch area.
Snider was found to have minor injuries and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment. She was later released from KCH and subsequently arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated as well as resisting/fleeing law enforcement.
Snider also was found to have an warrant for her arrest issued by Allen County and is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail.
