Fort Wayne Man Arrested On Drug Possession Charges

A Fort Wayne man was arrested June 11 in Kosciusko County for possession of a narcotic drug, marijuana and paraphernalia. Ben Isaiah Hickman, 21, Fort Wayne, was arrested at 2:24 a.m. June 11. His bond was set at $5,250. According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, Warsaw Police Department Capt. Gordon Allen on June 11 made contact with a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse during a DUI checkpoint. Operating the vehicle was Hickman, and the front passenger was Madison Bullerman. By way of compter check, Allen discovered Hickman did not have a valid driver’s license and also appeared to be very nervous. As Hickman exited the vehicle, Allen observed in plain sight a plastic bag on the seat. The plastic bag contained a white powder, which later tested positive for cocaine. Also discovered during a search of the vehicle was another plastic bag that contained a white powder, which later tested positive for cocaine. Located in a styrofoam cup inside the vehicle was a large glass smoking device that emitted an odor of burnt marijuana. Located in the glove box were a glass smoking device and a plastic bag containing marijuana. Allen read Hickman and Bullerman their Miranda warning. Both told Allen they had used cocaine earlier in the evening, according to the affidavit. No charges were filed against Bullerman as of this morning.
