PIERCETON - Former Pierceton Town Councilman, Clerk-Treasurer and longtime volunteer firefighter Jerry F. Kreger died Wednesday at age 66.
He was a lifelong Pierceton resident, according to his obituary. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Pierceton Fire Department for almost 30 years, receiving the Fireman of the Year Award in 2013.
He was a town councilman for 16 years, and served as town clerk-treasurer from 2016 to 2020.
He graduated from Whitko High School in 1977 and earned his bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1982, according to his obituary.
He coached in the Warsaw Little Tigers Football League for many years.
He was involved with the Shriners and Masons for 45 years, serving as Master of the Lodge in 1986, 1995 and 2008. In December 1980, he became a Noble of Mizpah Shrine. He served as club treasurer for the Kosciusko County Shrine for several years.
Other organizations he was involved in included the Hillbillies, the Kosciusko Minibike Association, Bartimaeus Lodge, Samsar and Car Club. He belonged to the Fort Wayne Scottish Rite.
He restored and painted vehicles for Warsaw GMC for over 30 years. Before retiring, he worked for Painters Supply & Equipment Co., Warsaw, as their business manager.
Kreger leaves behind his wife, Dawn; two daughters, three stepchildren, 10 grandchildren and a sister.
Visitation for Kreger will be Wednesday, Feb. 18 from 2 to 6 p.m. at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw. A masonic service will be conducted, then the funeral service will follow. A private burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.
