Former Leesburg Couple Die In FloridaA former Leesburg couple died Friday in a reported murder-suicide in Hillsborough County, Florida.
Around 3:15 Friday, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Magnolia Hill neighborhood in Plant City for reports of shots fired. A man inside the home at 304 Wen Bar Circle told dispatchers there had been a shooting and hung up.
Deputies arrived at the home and found a man and woman dead, according to a news release from the Hillsborough sheriff’s office. Detectives believe the man and woman were married at one point, but say the man was living in another part of the state.
Marilyn Staton, 66, of Plant City, Fla., and Victor Staton, 75, Sebring, Fla., both died Friday in Plant City.
In November Florida voters approved a law keeping crime victims from being identified. The Hillsborough sheriff’s could not confirm who died in the shooting but provided a link to the news release about a murder-suicide that occurred Friday.
The obituaries for Marilyn Staton and Victor Staton will be published in Thursday’s Times-Union.
