First Friday 'Chili Nights' Planned In Downtown Warsaw

Posted
First Friday “Chili Nights” is Friday in downtown Warsaw from 5 to 8 p.m.
Last year a large crowd braved the wind, sleet and snow to sample 23 different chilis created by local restaurants and individuals.
Last year’s People’s Choice winners were 8WW and Bill and Nanette DeGaetano.
In the restaurant division, first place went to Scott Woods, Noa Noa; second place, 8WW; and third place, Viand Chef Services.
In the individual category, Matt Pearson, Joe Bryan and Brian Burris were the winners.
This year’s chili contest judges are Gary Gerard, Bob and Sharon Sanders and Teresa Daggett.
There are still chili makers needed. Businesses and individuals are invited to participate in this year’s event. There are currently 13 businesses and individuals signed up for the chili contest.
There will be deals on food from downtown merchants.
Live music will be by Zach Moreno and Malorie Moore from 5 to 6 p.m., and Shade Jonz from 6 to 8 p.m.
There will be the Salvation Army kettle kickoff, and a bounce house for children.
A First Friday information booth will be provided by First Christian Church where hot chocolate and cookies will be served.
Face painting will be offered, and the Presbyterian Church youth group will make smores.
There will be corn bread from Courthouse Coffee and other fall foods including hot cider, pumpkin rolls, kettle corn, pumpkin whoopie pies and carmel apples.
A beer tent will be sponsored by Rex’s Rendezvous.
Another activity is a downtown hayride sponsored by the Ed Boggs family.
