MILFORD – A fryer fire at Serenade Foods Monday night left operations partially running with a portion of the plant to be back in full swing later this week.
Milford Fire Department Chief Brian Haines said the call came in around 10:15 p.m. and the cause of the fire was related to grease in the exhaust of the fryer that caused a fire in the ceiling.
Haines said Serenade Foods' water sprinkler system kicked in, and firefighters shot water through the roof and used fire extinguishers to kill the fire within 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported, and Haines said there wasn't much damage besides water damage.
Janelle Deatsman, communications manager of Serenade Foods, said a portion of the plant was up and running last night after sanitation was completed, and the part of the plant where the fire took place will be in full operation after repairs are completed later this week.
Leesburg and Syracuse fire departments, along with Lutheran EMS, assisted at the scene.
