PIERCETON - A father and his teenage son were injured Sunday night when the dirt bikes they were riding collided head-on on Wooster Road, near Pierceton.
Jonathan Shepherd, 13, and Carlie J. Shepherd, 34, both of Washington Road, Pierceton, were both airlifted from the scene to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. Jonathan Shepherd suffered internal injuries and was listed in critical condition this morning. Carlie Shepherd suffered a broken leg and was listed in fair condition.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department press release, the accident occurred at 8:34 p.m. while the elder Shepherd was eastbound on Wooster Road, east of CR 500E, and the younger Shepherd was westbound.
Neither of the dirt bikes had headlights or running lights, police said. The vehicles also didn't have any registration numbers, but it is believed both dirt bikes are registered to Carlie Shepherd.
