Kosciusko County Farmers Market will kick off May 3 in downtown Warsaw. The market will be open May 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be open Saturdays until Oct. 25. Wednesday hours from 5 to 7 p.m. will begin June 4, according to Paula Bowman, downtown events coordinator. The market will be set up in the 100 block of Center Street between the Kosciusko County Courthouse and Warsaw City Hall and in the plaza at city hall. Residents from Whitley, Fulton, Marshall, Elkhart, Wabash and Noble counties are invited to be vendors in addition to Kosciusko County residents. Crafters and bake sale items also are requested. The farmers market will follow its guidelines and regulations again this year that all produce and products must be homegrown, homemade and locally produced. On the second Saturday of each month, non-profit groups will be invited to host a food fundraiser such as a pancake breakfast or chicken and barbecue. A Second Saturday in May event will be hosted by the Classic Arts Program including the Lakeland Community Choir and Lakeland Youth Chorale with performances by the Youth Chorale throughout the morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Holy Smokes Barbecue chicken will be served. For questions about the market or how to become vendor, call Bowman at 574-376-0233 or Keegan Burns at 574-253-1102.
