Those who want to purchase home-grown fruits and vegetable will have an additional farmers market location in Warsaw to purchase the items. Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety Friday approved a license agreement with Kosciusko County Farmers Market LLC. Board member Jeff Grose moved to approve the agreement, seconded by Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer. Board member Charlie Smith was absent during the meeting. The agreement will allow a farmers market to be operated in the concrete road area of Center Street between Lake and Buffalo streets adjacent to the new city hall parking lot in downtown Warsaw. The downtown farmers market will begin May 5 from 8 a.m. to noon, and will continue each Saturday until October. The community will still be able to purchase items at the farmers market in the Kosciusko fairgrounds Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at the west end of the fairgrounds at the Smith Street entrance. The farmers market at the fairgrounds kicks off May 2 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Kegan Burns, Kosciusko County Farmers Market president, attended Friday’s meeting and said having an additional location will provide convenience. “We thank the city for this opportunity to bring a farmers market to the downtown and feel it will bring increased foot traffic,” Burns said. He said people can ride their bicycles to the farmers market or walk to the market. Burns said there already have been vendors who have expressed interest in participating in the downtown farmers market.
