Staff Report-
Local youth will have the opportunity to learn about and experience farming this summer at the second annual Farm Day Camp.
This year, campers in grades 3 to 5 can take part in the year of poultry and spend a day at one of two local poultry operations.
Campers will have the option to attend camp at Maple Leaf Farms, a duck operation, in Leesburg, on June 7 or Creighton Brothers, a chicken operation, in Warsaw, on June 8.
Both events will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The agenda for both days includes activities and games involving animals and crops, including how to know if animals are healthy, what the animals are fed, the uses of soybeans and other crops, and more.
Campers will also participate in video tours and compete in the “Farm Olympics.”
A $10 registration fee will include snacks, lunch, supplies and a T-shirt. Registration and payment are due to the Kosciusko County Extension Office May 14. A registration form is available at extension.purdue.edu/Kosciusko/.
