Family Of Three Given Keys To Habitat Home

What separates a house from a home is the people that live in it, said John Teevan.
Teevan, the treasurer for Kosciusko County Habitat for Humanity, spoke at the dedication ceremony for the organization's newest home at 421 Lyon St., Warsaw, on Thursday.
Brianna Adams and her sons, Jy'el and Jyon Mack, are those moving into the home.
The groundbreaking for the three-bedroom, one-bath house started in fall 2024, with Adams closing on the home Thursday.
Seventy-five volunteers spent 1,132 hours constructing the house on land donated by The Salvation Army of Warsaw.
Kosciusko County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Ben Logan noted that Warsaw Area Career Center building trades students helped with the home.
Adams herself completed 250 community service hours to receive the house.
Logan thanked the Kosciusko County Community Foundation for giving around $91,000 for constructing the home and several other Habitat ones.
At the ceremony, Logan gave Adams the house keys as well as Bibles for her and her sons and a Habitat for Humanity Christmas ornament.
Jy'el Mack said it felt "really good" to move into the home.
"It feels amazing," said Adams. "It's a blessing, something I definitely wouldn't have dreamed of (having for) a while, so I'm just grateful. This opportunity is going to provide us so much, and I'm happy to have a place to call home, somewhere where it's safe."
