Expired plate?leads to drug bustAn expired license plate led to a drug bust earlier this week.

Branden Trey Clupper Reese, 22, of 6473 W. Ind. 14, Silver Lake, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:23 p.m. Monday for manufacturing/dealing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia. His preliminary bond was set at $20,000 surety and $250 cash.

Court documents filed Wednesday list the charges against him as dealing in methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Warsaw Police officer Christopher Brown saw a black Honda with an expired registration plate on North Park Avenue in Warsaw. He conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as Reese and the passenger as Savannah Olinger, 18, homeless. Reese began talking about the false and fictious registration plate. Brown saw blood on Reese’s hands and that Reese was holding his arm awkwardly across his torso. Brown asked about the injury, which Reese said happened inside the vehicle.

Olinger gave officers a glass smoking device. An officer searched her and in her pocket found a plastic bottle containing 7.5 grams of methamphetamine.

Inside the vehicle, officers found digital scales, empty plastic bags and two glass smoking devices. A plastic container with residue was found between the driver’s seat and console.

In the center console, officers found a pop bottle with methamphetamine inside.

Olinger was booked into the jail at 10:17 p.m. Monday on the same charges as Reese. Her preliminary bond was set at $10,000 surety and $250 cash.
