WINONA LAKE – Evie + Mae, 801 E. Canal St., Winona Lake, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce Thursday.
Owner Amanda Meerzo said Evie + Mae is a gift shop with jewelry, children’s learning toys, clothes and gifts. She said there’s a lot more coming in the spring, “but right now we have a good base.”
She said Evie + Mae opened Oct. 11. There was an opportunity where the owners of Belove Gift Shop wanted to move from the Canal Street location, so Meerzo approached them and The Village at Winona to get things in line.
Meerzo said she wanted to bring in some nonfood businesses to the area and the Canal Street location was good for her since she owns other businesses in the area and decided to keep them close. The store is also something Meerzo and her daughter, Kennedy Slabaugh, can do together, so there was a lot of inspiration behind that.
Meerzo hopes to bring a variety of products that’s new to the area, as well as the children’s and kid’s room at the store. Evie + Mae carries Capri Blue, Angel Dear, Daily Grace and MudLove products, among others.
Hours of operation are 1 to 5 p.m., Monday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
