Eugene V. Henning, 82, Syracuse, died at 9:10 p.m. April 17, 2008, at Goshen General Hospital.

He was born June 9, 1925, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Ferdinand and Olive Waldo Henning. On Nov. 8, 1947, he married Maryrose S. Seiffert, who preceded him in death.

He was a area resident since the late 1940s coming from California after serving in the Navy during WWII. He was a self-employed flooring contractor. He was a member of St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church and a member of the American Legion Post 223, Syracuse.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan (and spouse Jeff) Corn, North Webster and Julie (and spouse Bryan) Napier, Syracuse; three sons, Michael (and spouse Alice) Henning, Bremen; Timothy K. (and spouse Idell) Henning, Kentwood, Mich.; and Christopher Henning, Fort Collins, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Patrick Jones, Lexington, Ky., and Natalie (and spouse Don) Riley, Palm Desert, Ca.; and a brother, Robert (and spouse Ellyn) Henning, Las Vegas, Nev.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church, Syracuse, with Father Richard Hire officiating. Burial will be at McClintic Cemetery with military honors by American Legion 223.

Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse. There will be a rosary service at 7:45 p.m.
