ETNA GREEN - Town attorney Jay Rigdon swore in newly elected councilman Todd Slabaugh and re-elected clerk-treasurer Laura Baker at a town council meeting Tuesday. Eileen Hall was re-elected by the board as council president, with councilman Andy Cook serving as vice president.

Keith Robbins was appointed representative to the Multi-Township EMS board of directors. Town employee Kevin Smith announced the officers of the Etna Township First Responders. Andy Cook will serve as president, Paul Scott as vice president and Lauren Milton as secretary.

Hall told the board she received a call from town resident Tim Fleagel asking if he could serve as a volunteer ordinance inspector for the town. Hall consulted with Rigdon to ensure such an arrangement would meet legal standards. Rigdon said there is no law against volunteer workers for the town and said he will write up a resolution to take Fleagel on as a volunteer code officer if Fleagel is still interested.

The council approved a recommendation by Rigdon to add town attorney duties to the town ordinances. Rigdon also said he plans to bring recommendations for changes in the next few months to bring the town's abandoned vehicle code into compliance with state code.

Hall reminded the board of Etna Green's agreement with the town of Bremen for assistance for emergency electrical work. Hall said Bremen has raised the rate charged for assistance from $32.85 per hour to $34.94 per hour. Etna Green has never had to call for assistance from Bremen.

Hall also said she has held several meetings to explore the idea of a town parade on July 4. Hall said she has not found anyone willing to organize the event.
