No formal announcement has been made regarding the Louis Dreyfus proposed soybean processing plant near Claypool, according to company spokesman Mike Mandl.
"The air permit was approved and issued Jan. 24, and we're very pleased to have that," Mandl said, "but no final decision has been made."
The corporation has proposed a soybean processing plant, phase 1 of an agro-industrial park, on about 250 acres southwest of Claypool. The plant would process more than 140,000 bushels of soybeans per day.
Construction of a biodiesel plant would be part of phase 2 and phase 3 of the development, which would include a 100 million-per-year ethanol plant.
Mandl said today the company's board of directors is looking at final resolution of zoning issues, permitting, incentive issues and a final budget review.
Mandl did say a decision should come "fairly quickly."
County Council President Harold Jones said the county hasn't been approached by the company regarding incentives at this point.
"We would offer a tax abatement and possibly a tax increment financing district," Jones said this morning.
Deborah Abbott, State Department of Agriculture, said the state had several incentives the company could look at, but specific information wasn't available at press time.
