Domestic Altercation Leads To Battery On Law Enforcement ChargeA Pierceton man fleeing from the scene of a domestic altercation ended up arrested for battery on law enforcement.

Steven Tyler Dubbs, 24, of 597-10 S. Old 13, Pierceton, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:43 p.m. March 7 for resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. His preliminary bond was set at $5,000 surety and $250 cash.

Court documents filed Friday list the charges against him as battery on law enforcement, a level 6 felony; and resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor.

On March 7, Pierceton Police Department officer Ryan Piper was dispatched to Dubbs’ address in reference to a domestic altercation. Piper was told by Central Dispatch that Dubbs was fleeing the scene. After searching the surrounding area, Piper found Dubbs walking on Ind. 13.

Piper placed Dubbs into handcuffs at which point Dubbs became combative. Piper told Dubbs to remain on the ground, but he didn’t comply and attempted to stand up. Dubbs also began to attempt to get away from Piper’s control, court documents state.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy Lou Mediano arrived on scene and helped keep Dubbs on the ground. During this time, Dubbs began kicking in an attempt to get free, hitting Piper on the leg. Eventually, Piper and Mediano were able to get Dubbs into Piper’s police vehicle and take him to the jail.

Dubbs’ initial hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. April 26 in Kosciusko County Superior Court II.
