Incumbent Cindy Dobbins recently filed her declaration of candidacy seeking the Republican nomination for Warsaw City Council at-large. During her first term in office Dobbins has been a member of the Warsaw Traffic Commission, and she represents the council on the Warsaw Community Development Corp. Board. She served on the 2014 “Walk and Wander Warsaw” planning committee, and has been involved with the First Friday event committee since its inception. Dobbins is a Salvation Army board member, treasurer for Kosciusko County Safe Kids and a member of Kosciusko Economic Development Corp.’s Small Business Entrepreneur Committee. She has worked with many community organizations throughout her career, and she said in the announcement of her filing that serving on the Warsaw City Council has seemed like a natural extension of her commitment to the Warsaw community. The city council developed a Strategic Plan in 2012, and while many goals have been met, Dobbins said she would love to serve another term in an effort to try to bring closure to those still pending. She said she is particularly passionate about maintaining a vibrant downtown and encouraging small business growth throughout the city. Owner of Buffalo Street Emporium and The Next Chapter Bookstore, Dobbins was employed by Multi-Township EMS for 30 years and also served as the WCDC executive director.
