A vehicle was seen submerged in Center Lake around 8 a.m. today, though no one was inside. A fisherman spotted the vehicle and told the Warsaw Parks Department, who then notifed Warsaw police. Warsaw Police Department, Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Department, Multi-Township EMS, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Warsaw Dive Team and Indiana Department of Natural Resources all responded to the scene as it was not known at the time of the call if there was someone inside the submerged vehicle, according to WPD Lt. Kip Shuter. Divers found no one inside the vehicle, a 2008 Subaru Forester registered to Lisa Donovan of Newberry, Fla. It was removed from the lake by Crouse Wrecker Service. The suspected driver, Donovan’s daughter Ava, 20, Warsaw, came into the Warsaw Police Department office at 8:51 a.m. and was interviewed by the investigating officer. Ava told police she was driving around and was distracted by her phone, and did not see the lake as she drove north on Buffalo Street sometime between 2 and 3 a.m. The investigation is ongoing and it is unknown whether any charges will be filed.
