LEESBURG - A Syracuse woman died Monday afternoon from injuries suffered in the second Kosciusko County fatality in four days.
Marcella Rehborg, 54, of 24 EMS D7 Lane, Syracuse, died at Kosciusko Community Hospital following a car-semi collision at the intersection of Ind. 15 and CR 900N, Leesburg. She died at 4:22 p.m. from head and internal injuries, according to Kosciusko County Coroner Larry Ladd.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department officers responding to the 1:08 p.m. call found the semi rolled onto its top and Rehborg pinned, unconscious, in her car. Milford Fire Department's extrication tool was used to free Rehborg from her car.
Investigators report Rehborg stopped her car at the intersection and looked north at southbound traffic on Ind. 15. She then pulled out into the path of a northbound semi driven by Gregory McFadden, Wapakoneta.
Other passengers in Rehborg's car were injured in the collision. Devonda Marsillet, 21, Syracuse, suffered an abrasion to her head; Camilla Rehborg, 3, suffered an abrasion on her elbow; and Kyla Marsillet, 3, Syracuse, suffered an abrasion to her arm.
All three individuals were transported to KCH for treatment of their injuries and released. McFadden was also treated at KCH for minor lacerations and released.
The truck, hauling seven rolls of steel, hit the car, then rolled onto its top, coming to rest on the east side of Ind. 15. The semi blocked traffic on Ind. 15 for several hours, delaying area travelers.
Authorities report Marcella Rehborg and Devonda Marsillett were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. The two children were restrained in the back seat with a seatbelt and child restraint seat.
The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's department.
