Dewart Lake Residence Destroyed In Sunday Fire

A Sunday mobile home fire near Dewart Lake left one family homeless and two pets dead.

The Christopher Breidinger family resided at the 8 EMS D18A Lane home that caught fire Sunday and was destroyed in the blaze. The estimated damage of the home was $100,000.Although two pets were killed in the fire, all other occupants escaped without injury.

The residence was a 1959 mobile home that was remodeled in 1976. Kathryn Sparks of North Webster owned the mobile home.

A structure at 96 EMS D18A Lane sustained minor damage from exposure to the fire.

The Turkey Creek Township/Syracuse Fire Department was assisted by the North Webster Fire Department. Milford Fire Department tankers were filled at Wawasee Middle School and from a dry hydrant at Dewart Lake, and water was transported to the scene of the fire.

The Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross assisted the family at the scene with alternate housing arrangements and provided necessities to the family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Turkey Creek Township/Syracuse Fire Department, but is believed to be accidental.
