The newly-formed DePuy Employee Community Awareness Team is working together to create new service-based activities.
DECAT's first activity is a turkey drive to benefit Our Father's House, Warsaw. Tuesday and today, DECAT has been collecting food items for Our Father's House to make food baskets for Thanksgiving.
"Every year, Our Father's House prepares food baskets for the Thanksgiving holiday. Each basket contains items needed to make a holiday meal: turkey (frozen or fresh), boxed dressing, boxed instant potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, peas, pumpkin pie filling, rolls. During 2004, they made 130 baskets, and this year they only have funds to make 85," said Aaron Villaruz, member of DECAT.
'We've prepared a shopping list and with the help of DePuy employees, we're confident we can reach a goal of gathering fixings for 50 Thanksgiving baskets in time for this year's holiday," he said.
DECAT currently has seven members, but anyone interested in being involved should contact Gena Derby, Jennifer Gaff, Jason Henderson, Beth Huffer, Penny Linn, Deb Silor or Villaruz for more information.
