DePuy Donation Helps Fund Research Into Juvenile Diabetes

DePuy Orthopaedics donated $10,000 to support the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Nicole Hansen, special events coordinator for the Foundation, presented a certificate of appreciation to DePuy today.

"This money will make a big difference for children and families with juvenile diabetes," Hansen said. "It will support national research efforts and assist support groups in our area who help families who have been newly diagnosed with the disease."

The donation is in conjunction with the Foundation's annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, which this year is Sept. 24 at Franke Park in Fort Wayne.

"Supporting the communities where we work and live has been part of DePuy's heritage for more than a century and is an important part of our credo as a Johnson & Johnson company," said Earle Hanlin, DePuy's vice president of human resources.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
