LEESBURG - A Kosciusko County Sheriff's Dept. deputy was uninjured in a Sunday evening accident.
According to a police report, KCSD deputy Chris Rager was responding to a call for backup on a battery call in Milford when his police cruiser went off Ind. 15N near the intersection of Prairie Street in Leesburg.
According to the report, Rager said he activated his emergency lights as he was going north through Leesburg on Ind 15.
Rager said he observed cars pulling off to the shoulder of the road except for a truck pulling a trailer. As Rager attempted to pass the truck in the southbound lane of Ind. 15, he went off the road.
Rager's' vehicle struck a parked vehicle registered to a Carol A. Kinney, driven by Linda A. Kaufman.
Kaufman said she was parked after shopping at Katie's Kwikmart, Leesburg, off Ind. 15, as she waited for her two sons, Tyler Kinney, 12, and Paul Kinney, 7, to buckle their seat belts.
All three were treated by EMS and stated they were not injured.
Kaufman said she did hear Rager's sirens.
The driver of the truck Rager avoided, whose information wasn't in the police report filed at Warsaw Police Department, stated he did not see Rager.
The damage estimate of the accident was $5,000-$10,000.
