Warsaw Deer Task Force has set archer training dates for the 2011-2012 season.
If the reduction effort is approved by Warsaw City Council, it will be the sixth year for the efforts.
Former archers will have two opportunities to qualify for deer-reduction efforts. The training for former archers will be Aug. 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., or Aug. 20 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Warsaw Police Department, 2191 E. Fort Wayne St.
New participants must attend the only training session for this season on Aug. 20 from 1:45 to 6 p.m. More information is available online at warsaw.in.gov
During the training session, there will be a proficiency test, and those interested in participating in the efforts will learn the rules and regulations for the deer-reduction effort.
The Deer Task Force is scheduled to meet Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. to prepare a recommendation to city council for a possible deer-reduction effort, according to Jeff Grose, deer task force chairman.
The city council will then need to approve the reduction effort at its August meeting.
