The United Way of Kosciusko County Board of Directors is taking a new direction with the Day of Caring volunteer program.
After 10 years, nearly $250,000 invested in renovation costs and thousands of volunteer hours, United Way is renaming the local Day of Caring to the Day of Action, as with other United Ways nationwide, according to a press  release from United Way of Kosciusko County.
The Day of Caring allowed Housing Opportunities of Warsaw to apply for over $2,715,000 in federal and state grants for home renovations.
The Day of Action will occur in July after the conclusion of summer school.  While talking to various educators, it was revealed that some classrooms in the schools have not been painted for years.  Many of the classrooms that have been painted have been painted by teachers and their families.
Since one of the areas of focus of United Way of Kosciusko County is education, it has been decided that children of the community would benefit by brightening up the classrooms and hallways of the schools, according to the release.
