WINONA LAKE - Governor Mitch Daniels will chair a meeting of the board of directors of the Indiana Economic Development Corp. Thursday at the Remnant Trust building in Winona Lake.
The meeting is open to the public and is at 10:30 a.m. at 1101 Park Ave.
The board also will hold a closed executive session at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the same location for discussion of confidential pending incentive requests from industrial and commercial prospects and discussion of records classified as confidential by state or federal statute.
The policy and entrepreneurship committees of the board of directors will meet at 9:30 a.m., also at the Remnant Trust building. The public may attend those meetings.
During a telephone interview Tuesday morning, Dr. Dane Miller, who is a Remnant Trust and Indiana Economic Development Corp. board member, said he asked the governor two months ago to come to Winona Lake for the IEDC meeting.
"I think the governor's recognition of the Warsaw and Winona Lake area shows that it is an important part of the state in his mind," Miller said.
Miller said the first IEDC meeting was held in Warsaw at Biomet six years ago when the governor attended.
Miller said the IEDC meetings are usually held in Indianapolis, and Thursday will be the second time the meeting has been held in the Warsaw-Winona Lake area.
Kris Bex, Remnant Trust president, said the Remnant Trust organization is pleased to host the meeting and showcase the facility.
