'Daffodil Days' Supports Local Fight Against Cancer

Posted
Local residents and businesses have a chance to bring some signs of spring to the community while supporting the battle against cancer with Daffodil Days March 19.

The American Cancer Society is taking orders until Monday for bouquets of the yellow flowers to be sent to family, friends and businesses. All proceeds from Daffodil Days benefit the American Cancer Society's research, education, advocacy and patient service programs.

For $10, supporters will receive 10 daffodils, and for an additional $5, supporters can buy a glass vase. On March 19, orders for 10 or more bunches will be delivered to local businesses, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, college campuses and other organizations throughout Kosciusko County by local volunteers. Orders of less than 10 bunches can be picked up at Anderson's Greenhouse, Warsaw, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

ACS supporters can take orders for daffodils at their places of employment until Monday. Orders can be faxed to 574-257-9790 or mailed to American Cancer Society, 601 W. Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

Daffodil Chair Carol Huffer said her committee will continue accepting orders for daffodils until March 17, but encourage supporters to submit orders by the Monday deadline. The money for the orders will be collected at the time the daffodils are delivered or picked up.

Employers have the opportunity to boost the impact of their employees' efforts during Daffodil Days by matching employees' donations to ACS. Employees can check www.matchinggifts.com/acs to see if their companies currently match gifts. If not, a form is available on the site for companies that wish to participate in the matching program.
