Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb and Rafael Cruz will be at the Kosciusko Republican Fish Fry Wednesday.
Rafael Cruz is the father of Republican presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.
Kosciusko Republican Party Chairman Randy Girod announced the special guests Monday.
In a telephone interview this morning, Girod said Cruz already was scheduled to speak at Victory Christian Fellowship Church, 112 W. Main St., North Manchester, today at 7 p.m.
“They heard about the fish fry and wanted to come,” Girod said.
After being tortured and imprisoned in Cuba, Rafael Cruz fled to the United States to attend the University of Texas at Austin in 1957. He then started a small business in the oil and gas industry. Today, he is a pastor in Dallas, according to Ted Cruz’s campaign website at tedcruz.org
Pence previously came to the Kosciusko GOP fish fry four years ago, and Holcomb was at a fry last year when he was running for U.S. Senate, Girod said.
“All of our politicians are welcome to come. They contacted us, and we’re happy to have them. We’re thrilled to have them,” Girod said
He said he expects a full house at the fry this year because all the candidates for Congress, U.S. Senate, state attorney general and all the county candidates should be in attendance.
The fish fry is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kosciusko Fairgrounds, 1400 E. Smith St., Warsaw. Fish dinner is $9 for adults, $5 for children.
