LEESBURG – Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Cromwell man Friday night on charges of criminal confinement and strangulation.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officers responded to the 300 block of Smith Street on Friday night to check the welfare of a female.  The original caller advised officers that she believed that a neighbor might be in danger from her current boyfriend, Shane Lee Senter.

Deputies arrived at the residence but could not get anyone to come to the door.  Contact was made with the victim, Tamara Wood, via telephone, at which point officers believed that she was under duress.  Senter then spoke to officers on the cell phone and agreed to exit the residence.

As officers met with Senter, the victim exited the house very disoriented and with noticeable bruises covering her face and neck.  Multi-Township EMS was immediately called to the scene as other officers questioned Senter in regards to Wood’s injuries.

Deputies also interviewed Wood, who explained that she had been confined to the residence for almost three days.  During that time the suspect had allegedly struck her several times as well as strangled her to the point where she almost lost consciousness.

She was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Shane Senter, 37, 9508 E. King Arthur Trail, Cromwell, was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail and preliminarily charged with battery resulting in bodily injury, criminal confinement, and strangulation.

He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond issued by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
