The concepts of health, family, community and spirituality all converge to make The Crazy Day Gourmet a unique dining experience.
Owners Tanna Wright, Tracy Nichols and Stephanie Hapner met through different church groups.
With the idea of service in mind and a desire to provide quality, healthy meals for families, the idea of The Crazy Day Gourmet was born.
The Crazy Day Gourmet opens Monday.
At 3510 Commerce Drive in Warsaw, it’s located behind the Goodwill store in Warsaw in the same shopping strip as Bower’s Jewelry.
Wright said it’s geared toward getting families to sit around a dinner table together.
“A lot of times, with both parents working, there isn’t time to prepare dinner at night,” said Wright. “Families can come here and pick up meals and have time to eat together.”
Drive-thru is available for The Crazy Day Gourmet.
Advance orders are welcome, but extra food will be made daily to allow for last-minute pickup of meals.
The new venture also is keenly aware of dietary restrictions and allergies.
It’s a peanut-free facility and Hapner, a nationally-known author in allergy-free cooking, has created a menu of gluten-, corn-, wheat-, dairy- and soy-free items.
Hapner’s son has battled severe food allergies since a young age, forcing her entire family into a gluten-free diet.
Her cookbook, Allergy-Free Cooking Everyone Loves, is sold in stores throughout the country.
This sort of food dynamic fits in with The Crazy Day Gourmet where locally-grown produce will be used as often as possible and the foods will be free of preservatives.
Vegetarian, organic and diabetic items will also be available through The Crazy Day Gourmet.
Daily entrees will be listed every week. A rotation of five weeks worth of different items will be available.
The first week’s menu items include lasagna, chicken pot pie, italian beef on hoagie rolls, chicken enchiladas and pork chops and baked apples.
Bakery items available include whoopie pies, cookies, pies, cheesecake and brownies.
When possible, comparable gluten-free options to menu items will be made available.
Trying to get a business off the ground is hectic enough, but the women at The Crazy Day Gourmet also are hoping to improve the community.
Such service projects the women are looking at are doing cooking classes and working with women at various halfway homes.
As the holidays approach, they also hope to do some themed days like a cookie boutique around Christmas. All three women are certified managers for food handling.
All items either come ready to eat or can be prepared quickly in the oven.
The Crazy Day Gourmet also offers boxed lunches for students and business meetings as well as catering services and specialty cakes.
Special orders can be taken up to two weeks in advance.
