Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
An 18-year-old Warsaw man died Tuesday in a fatal crash on Ind. 15, a half mile north of Leesburg.
Zachariah D. Wade, 18, Warsaw, was pronounced dead of head injuries at about 1 p.m. at the scene of the sport utility vehicle-pickup collision.
The pickup's driver, Ronald A. Boniphant, 47, Grantsville, W.V., suffered minor facial injuries and was treated and released from Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department press release, the crash apparently happened after Wade's south-bound sport utility vehicle crossed the center line and left the east side of the roadway.
As Wade attempted to recover, his vehicle collided with Boniphant's northbound pickup and overturned, landing on and smashing its top.
Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department was assisted by Multi-Township EMS, Plain Township EMS and Fire Department, Warsaw Fire Department and the Kosciusko County Coroner's Office.
The accident is still under investigation.
