NAPPANEE - A Goshen woman was killed and her 2-month-old twins and a Nappanee woman were injured in a Friday morning accident near Nappanee.
According to Indiana State Police, Heidi J. Hershberger, 25, died instantly from massive internal injuries suffered in the 8:47 a.m. accident on Ind. 19, two miles north of Nappanee.
Police said unsafe speed contributed to the accident in which Hershberger apparently lost control of her car on the snow-covered road and crossed the center line into the path of a vehicle driven by Ann M. Connolly, 46, of Parkwood Drive, Nappanee.
Connolly suffered unspecified injuries and was reportedly in fair condition after the accident.
Also injured were Jasmine Hershberger, 2 months, who was listed in critical condition, and Joseph Hershberger, 2 months, who was listed in good condition. Both infants were in child safety seats. Heidi Hershberger and Connolly both were wearing seat belts.
ISP was assisted at the scene by officers from Wakarusa and Nappanee police departments.
