A local couple was arrested mid-afternoon Wednesday after allegedly selling cocaine to undercover police with a 3-year-old boy in their vehicle. Joshua Terry Smith, 24, of 10402 S. Ind. 15, Silver Lake, and Britney Le Riley, 22, of 4694 E. Ind. 14, Claypool, each faces a charge of possession of cocaine - a felony - after covert Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers reportedly made a buy of 1.3 grams of cocaine from them a block away from the Kosciusko County Jail. According to a report, officers bought the cocaine just after 3:30 p.m., while the couple’s car was parked in the parking lot of a local business in central Warsaw. After Smith and Riley were placed into custody, officers found another 1.5 grams of cocaine inside the vehicle, and Riley’s 3-year-old son, the report said. The Department of Child Services was called in, and the child was placed in the care of grandparents, the report said. Smith and Riley are being held in the Kosciusko County Jail. Riley’s bond has been fixed at $10,000, but Smith is awaiting a bond setting as authorities look into additional charges.
