Kosciusko County officials will hold a tax sale next week for property with delinquent taxes.
Real estate taxes that are 15 months delinquent qualify the property for the 2001 tax sale. The sale is set for Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. in the Kosciusko County Courthouse, old courtroom, Warsaw.
Special assessments, such as delinquent sewers, drainage assessments and weed mowing, also qualify a property for the tax sale.
Registration will be before 10 a.m. the day of the auction. The bidding begins at the amount of taxes, penalties and other costs owed and the property is sold to the highest bidder.
The purchaser pays for the property, with cash or cashier's check, in the county treasurer's office. A proof of purchase and sales certificate will be issued in the auditor's office.
The owner of the property has one year from the sale date to redeem the property. During that year, the tax sale purchaser has no legal rights to the property. Tax sale purchasers receive a return on their investment.
Any questions regarding the tax sale may be directed to the Kosciusko County Auditor's office by calling 372-2325.
