The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department has hired a veteran local police officer as a deputy sheriff.
Brad Kellar will serve in the sheriff's department road patrol division. He is a transfer from the Winona Lake Police Department, where he served two years.
Keller also served with the Warsaw Police Department for nine years, where he was assigned both to the Kosciusko County Drug Task Force and the Kosciusko City-County SWAT.
Kellar, a graduate of Grace College and a 1999 honor graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, is certified in close-quarter combat training and tactical patrol stops, and is a certified master of narcotic and criminal interdiction.
Kellar will fill a vacancy opened by the retirement earlier this year of Steve Knispel, who served 28 years in the department. Keller began July 11.
